Hi
I read many times here that removing manifold flaps wont reduce power.
The mechanic says it will loose 40hp when moved and Range engine is the same engine without flap tahts why less powerful.
Replacing with new ones is the method he says.
I know people here didnot have any power problems.

Your mechanic is talking complete bulls*it!!!
It will not reduce any power when the swirl flaps are removed.

You seem to have lots of questions regarding to your plan to buy a diesel E60. Please be a bit more informative in your opening posts or maybe you could create just one thread where you post these little (but important) questions.

I find that people are quick to give advice on things like but not so quick to pickup the bill when it goes wrong, listen to the guys on here and dont take the risk of keeping the flaps. My car runs fine without them and I no longer have to worry about having to go cap in hand begging BMW to contribute to the cost of a new engine.

Awful design mistake by BMW in my opinion, I rank it up there with Nikasil and Tearing Subframes. These are great cars to own but you do need to keep yourself informed.

Thanks i will remove as i got the car immediately.
They insist that later made parts are problem free but who needs them anyway.
