Default Power folding mirrors issue

Hey guys. After going through the wash the other day my drivers mirror was pulled forward. When I pulled it back it does not "snap" into place. When I push the button to retract the mirrors they fold in fine, but when I hit it again the passenger one folds out and stops but the drivers one folds all the way forward (actually pointing towards almost the front of the car.

Anyone have this issue before? Also if I leave the mirror in the normal position and leave the car when I come back out it is always fully extended pointing forward again.

Is there any way to reset this?

Thanks!

Derek

You have to reset them, when you fold the mirrors in the one that is off the motor should keep going until you hear a pop and then it should be fine.

KLR4life -

I tried folding mirrors in with the button and they certainly fold in and I can hear the motor still running and then the mirror "pops" but when I come back out of the store and extend them again the drivers goes all the way to the front again. I guess I'm just going to have to mess with it. It feels like there is just a "knob" under there that meshes with a corresponding "hole" that spins with the motor and maybe my mirror is just off by 180 degrees or something like that. Its just irritating to come out everytime and look at such a nice car with the exception of an ear bent forward look.

You may have to try a few times but i got it on the second time which mine, if you hear the pop and they do not go back to the correct position, take it off track again by moving the mirror toward the closing position and then press the button to close and it should pop again.

Very frustrated. I'm pretty handy and this is just king of pissing me off. Tried what you suggested and I swear I thought it would stop in the outward position, but no, it continued all the way front again.

So pulling the mirror back, then retracting the mirrors definitely creates a pop sound. I just tried all kinds of things, pulling forward, closing them, all kinds of things. The switch even quit working so I thought I blew a fuse. Came back out in the garage about ten minutes later and the mirror was all the way forward again!!!! Ugh.....

I'm inclined to think it is some sort of malfunction now. If I fold the mirrors in electronically the drivers one even pops being folded in now. If I roll the window down and fold them out with the button the drivers one just keeps going, if I stop it at its normal position with my hand the motor keeps running for at least 3 more full cycles wanting to extend it all the way out towards the front of the car. Vet frustrating
