The other day I bottomed out on a pothole and now have a slow leak. I've since

localized it. In front of the forward [in this case]right wheel there are two semi horizontal

arms, an upper one[w/ a "do not tow"sticker] and a lower one . The lower arm connects

to a box like structure under the engine at a joint, and the leak appears to be coming from

some seals at the junction of the arm and the box. I have an appt in one week w/ my

dealer. Does anyone have any ideas ----is this engine oil? steering fluid? lubricant from

a joint?

Thanks

Not sure - but your dealer should book your car in as an emergency & not make you wait a week. It could be dangerous.

I have not seen it but if I rember well the arms are connected to thr body through "hydraulic" joint. Maybe you have damaged one. Anyhow do not mention the pothole to the dealer he could use that to void the warantee on this issue, which is not acceptable because a car like that has to resist to a pothole.

What exactly do you mean by a leak? In other words describe the fluid/whatever. There are two lower suspension arms, a front and a rear. The other arm you refer to sounds like the headlight level sensor which would make sense to have a "Do Not Tow" sticker on. The front lower suspension arm (actually called a "tension strut") attaches to the front axle support with a sleeved rubber bushing and a bolt. It doesn't look like it would be a lubricated fitting from the parts catalog. If you are seeing a leak from there I would be a little concerned that its coming from somewhere else. I wonder if it might be Active Roll Stabilization unit on the front stabilizer bar. Need to know what the leaking stuff looks, feels, and smells like.
