My other two cars are standard, so I might as well go with the same on the 550. The fiance won't be happy about the 6 spd.. But hey, the car isn't for her!

You may want to look for a manual 06 or 07 550. The manuals do not hold their value as well (at least aroud here) and are often available at very attractive prices and rest assured, while I'm sure they exist, I've never seen a non-sport manual e60.
That said, for 08, the shifter was shortened - so whatever you do, don't drive that white one or you will be in love. Also, on the 06 and 07, you will have 18" wheels stock and for 06, the Comfort Seats were an option and will be much harder to find. In 07 they became standard with the sports package.

Yes there's a huge difference between the 2 trannys, the SAT shifts much quicker.
