My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.
I have a simple question for the group. Does my 05 525i have a posi rear or is it a single wheel drive ??? I really don't know.

Of course, there are two ways to check. Turn off all traction controlling devices and dump the clutch or power brake an auto or lift the rear of the car, both sides, put in neutral and spin one rear tire. If they both spin in the same direction, you have posi. If they spin in opposite directions, you don't.
I prefer the burnout method, more fun. Though I haven't done this with the 545 yet.
On another note, does anyone know if aftermarket Posi is available and would it mess up the traction control system?
Best guess is posi-rear = Limited slip diff.
Only the M5 has a LSD in the E60 model range.

Thanks guys for all your answers, I guess I'm showing my age when I said Posi-rear. I remember the days when I had a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 426 Hemi engine and a 411 Posi rear, by the way To Mr. Irish Eyes, Laddie ....THAT WAS ONE BIG OLD POSI REAR HIP HOPING DOWN THE STREET....................LOL Thanks for making me laugh!!!
I love this board.....
Positraction and LSD were about the same in the good old days, but no more. Check the excellent, as far as I know, explanation of LSD on this thread:
What 5 Series changes would you like to see?
And, note that LSD is not what it used to be. ~0{:^)

Here I go again
Even the 545i doesn't have LSD! This is a definite
It is the ONLY thing that may prevent me from getting another E60
unless I pony up the $$ for the almighty M5.
