My Ride: 2007 550i - Monaco Blue with Auburn Interior. Sport, auto. Ordered 10-30-06

I just got the call that my car is at the port, and I'm scheduled to pick it up next week. This has been the longest two months of my life (except for boot camp). Haven't looked at the calendar so much in December since I was seven years old.

We've all been there and understand completely how you've been feeling... Hang in there, you'll be driving your baby in no time!

I know exactly how you feel. I just got mine last Friday and I kept checking the status on line, calling the BMWUSA Customer Service and my dealer until it got here. I didn't want to get out of it all weekend.

Believe me, you'll love it!!!

Your dealer won't admit it, but they have some pull with the processing centers at the port. They can request an expedite on a car if they want to. The car I just got was replacing a problem car. The processing center in NJ was waiting for it, turned it around and had it on a truck the day after the boat arrived. It was at my dealer in CT the next day.

Make a little noise, but do it politely. You get further with honey than the other choice.

Keep us posted!

By the way...

The info you see on the BMW Owner's circle is weeks behind. I had my car and it was still saying it was "en route" with that annoying music, as though that is going to make your wait seem shorter.

I agree with what FairfieldCT says regarding the dealer having pull. My car landed in Charleston, SC on a Sunday, was at the VPC the end of that day and on a truck to my dealer by Tuesday morning. They always give priority to "sold" vs. "inventory" cars but the dealer can contact the VPC and grease the skids a little bit.

I can go the rest of my life without hearing that Owners Circle music again. It was cool for the first 5 minutes. I hope the color combo turns out good. Still a little nervous on that one.

You are going to love the color combo - I remember thinking about a year ago saw an identical 530 in my company parking lot "I did not know BMW sold cars with that interior color - looks great"

If only I had remembered before I ordered silver-grey.....

In some locales anything goes. In some you feel the pressure to please others, demonstrating your taste and discernment.

Most important is that it pleases YOU and you simply have the joy of driving a truly excellent vehicle.

Good luck,

ABC
