but I have stone chips on the paint and this will happen to any car even a nice Enzo ferrari.

I have a 2005 BMW 525i and I think the paint job on these cars is absolutely crap. It's so easy to scratch the paint even if you are really careful when you wash the car by hand. It's really annoying especially when you pay a great deal of money for the car. I heard that the clear coat on the metallic paints is really thin and this is the main problem. Have no experience with the E60.. but my E39 was a poor paint job. Just leaving a mud spec on it in the sun and trying to prime it off after a few hours really messes up the paint job, despite all precautions and microfibre towels.
