Only had my Bimmer for about 6 weeks now. Coolant temp sensor, lower hose, thermostat = $420.

Worst I ever had was a blown tranny in a Jeep Cherokee AWD that cost me $3200.

Thank you for all of your great input and participation in the poll.

This will give us e60 owners, a good understanding of the reliability and ongoing ownership expense.

It was a transmission failure on my old 2001 E53 X5, it cost $7,500.00, the repair was NEVER made, the car was traded in on my first E60 while a new 2008 E70 X5 was ordered the same day. All in all a VERY stressful car purchase and order, my wife and I were unable to even eat at a time that is SUPPOSED to be fun and exciting!

My Ride: 2004 E60 520i SE 2.2 Auto
Default Auto ZF Transmission

After 23k miles, £3,300 new incl. fitting but not at dealers (quoted £5,700 but reduced to £5,200 as goodwill). Spent an additional £1k trying to fix the old one, got taken for a ride. And lets not count all the car rentals while my car was out of action for 2 months.
