They're having some problems at the main plant. Shutdown will now be for a full week instead of the normal 3 days. Looks like they have all the inventory they need. This thread is from an extremely reliable source inside BMW:

bad news!

Again, BMW is shutting down the Dingolfing plant for a week, from 16.05. until 21.05.

the plant is runnig at the absolute minimum production capacity at the moment.

I have no inside informations from BMW but my car was complished from 14 to 15/02 having been delayed by 2 weeks due to the diesel pump problem and the extended carnival shut down.

It should be delivered to me end of the week. Lets hope!!!!

The new closure may be due to:

the whole logistic system which may be pertubated by the very snowy conditions in Bavaria and in Germany,

the flexible working hours of the Bavarian (who by the way work no more than 35h/week as in France) which allow them to take extended breaks to compensate overtimes.

and also some modifications to be done to the production tooling for the 2006 mods.

hmmm I cannot see why the news is that bad? the original post says the shutdown was planned for 3 days but is now for a week, so if that means a "working" week i.e 5 days, are we saying it is actually only staying down for an extra 2 days? doesn't seem like really bad news to me

The plant was closed for the diesel pump problem in early feb for a week ( extended from 3 days )

and will close again in May ( 16th till 25th )

They have the carnival shutdown because they don't want hungover people putting the cars together.
