so i have been reading up on comfort access and many people say that the comfort access remotes are not rechargable. lately i have noticed when i open the door and start the car that ill see a icon in the cluster flashing briefly that shows a ley with a battery behind the key. is this the systems way of telling me that my batter is dying in my key fob? would be nice if i could stick the key fob in the slot in the steering column and have it charge it but i do not see any type of terminal connections on the key fob nor do i see a way to open it up to replace the batttery.

You can open the comfort access fob by first sliding out the metal key. Once you remove the metal key, you'll see an newly exposed area that you can gently pry up to open the battery compartment...

What year / production date is your car? I too have comfort access and wonder what usual battery life is for each module ? (I really can't call it a key )

I think if still under warranty it should be covered even though an ordinary button cell battery is less than $5.

They are not rechargeable!

The best part is that when I had my car in for service recently and asked them to change MY battery, my SA said there were TWO batteries in the remote and the one was used for unlocking/locking the car and one was used for starting it. And the one used for unlocking the car recharges.....

I love it.
