There are two new gearboxes. There is a new standard automatic (replaces Step?). And there is a new sports automatic transmission with paddle shifters. SMG is no more, so I guess the new sport auto replaces that.
The sports auto may be more like Audi's DSG than the old SMG ... we'll know more as details are released.
Either way, these new trannies should be much better performers than the current Steptronic.

Still the same 'Lada Quality' El Cheapo air con controls I see !
They have better designed ones in the F10 (telepathic systems bus connection) and iPhone integration will be available at the F10 facelift.

Well at least they got a more substantial volume knob. I remember complaining about that three years ago.

Anything wrong with the steering wheel volume control?

Though I wish the volume controls and radio/track controls were on the same side of the steering wheel.

Nothing wrong with it, I just never use it in the e60 for some reason. In other cars, I find it quite useful.

For those of us in RHD vehicles the placement of the rotary volume control is awkward so it's "easier" to use the steering wheel control.

Same here... I almost always use the volume control buttons on the steering wheel and leave the rotary knob for my passenger to play with.
