Jonathan - I trust you'll be writing about your impressions of the 535d. I (and I'd bet a bunch of others) are hoping that will be among the first diesel models imported next year. I do understand that diesel X5s are manufactured in SC, and then sent abroad.

Buying a pair at a time? You sure are lucky guy. You will be truly be able to evaluate the two engines side by side!

He's not buying a pair, he's just borrowing the diesel until he takes delivery of his 550...

I do welcome advice from everyone however. Esp. knowledgeable travel agents such as Iceman.

salzkammergut in upper austria and salzburg - that is the place to be specially if you are coming from munich. nice drive too, between mountains and lakes - definitely worthwhile...

Sorry to hijack this thread, but is Iceman really a travel agent? If so Iceman, I will be in Munich next weekend (Sept 29-Oct-6) for Oktoberfest! Any help (hotels must see) will be appreciated.
