told that the power socket is still useable. I can't understand why they would bother installing the power socket and then not wirie it up.

lyou'll find that the non-smoking package can easily be retrofitted since it ony consists of a set of plastic covers instead of the cig lighters. Your dealer should be able to provide them at no additional cost.

As I said - my dealer said there was no wiring AND no socket(s) so the last part of your question (if I'm right, that is) wouldn't apply...

Fair enough... in that case your dealer was definitely wrong. I have seen both pictures and descriptions of the plastic blanking plugs used in place of the lighters. I guess if the sockets are still there then they will have power.
This is without the smoker's pack removed.

The rear centre console in my Week 13 535d has, as well as a central AUX IN, two power sockets with dummy plastic lighters rather than blanking plates.

The pictures and descriptions I have seen and heard refer to the front console and lighter.

I'm intrigued as to what the ashtrays are replaced by!

My Ride: 2006 BMW 520d SE - Jet Black - Advanced Air Con - Sports Suspension - Sports Steering Wheel - Extended Light Pack
Thanks for the response guys, windscreen was a bummer, but one of those things!
Planning a thorough wash/wax as soon as the weather permits and then I'll post up some photos (amazing to think this is in the worst drought for 20 years!)

I've sent the dealer an e-mail regarding the de-badge and smoker pack, will let you all know how I get on.
On a plus note, I'm going to Manchester on business tomorrow, so a 380 mile round trip to look forward to

My personal view is that a debadged card looks like an incomplete insurance job.

- A lorry flicked up a stone and smashed the windscreen already
- Dealer forgot to order de-badge and fit non-smoker package (does anyone know if this can be done by the dealer or factory only?)

Re the de-badging, the dealer took mine off. Basically it's a sort of hair dryer to heat the glue holding the numbers to the lid. They've done it twice for me and there hasn't been any issues. I wanted to keep the numbers but they said they all bend when taking them off.

If the windscreen needs replacing (thru insurance) get them to order a screen with the the green band tint at the top. Why not?.
