Phoenix, AZ roads are great
I just got back from an L.A. to Arizona run and I must say the roads in Phoenix are excellent. Everything was freshly paved, smooth and no potholes. Did I die and go to driver heaven? I got it up to 140mph on the 10FWY and it was as smooth as could be. I didn't realize how bad the roads in L.A. are until reaching Phoenix.

That's why our license fees are soooooo high here! I have to agree with you, as I regularily make the drive between Phoenix and LA on I-10. Gotta love that flat and unobstructed highway to really open up the 5er.

Ya roads in LA "USE" to be really good compared to the East Coast like Boston and new York... I'm not so sure anymore... We're comparable now... and its not cuz NY Roads got any better.

Agree, I was easily able to get up to my indicated 152 in AZ.
Hit a couple of good spots in Nevada, Utah and Colorado on my drive back to Denver.

Any of you guys can tell me what Surprise, AZ is like? I've got family there but haven't been yet.

In short, we liked the area north of Phoenix. A lot of the young Rangers baseball players have already purchased homes in that area. Home prices will explode, if they haven't yet.
Not everywhere. I just hit a big pothole last week really hard and bent both passenger side wheels. Was able to have them straightened, so at least I didn't have to buy two new wheels. Point is, there are potholes, so watch out.
Thanks!
We went to Surprise to watch the Texas Rangers in Spring Training a couple of years ago. That whole area north of Phoenix is in the middle of great growth. Surprise is near all the other new baseball developments. Also, there are golf couses all over that whole area.

Anyone read the article about 4 months ago on US roads and what state has the best roads. Arizona came in first.
A couple of points of interest, is Az uses car tires in their asphalt which make the roads hold up better over time, and makes the roads very quiet.
just my 2c.
