Just curious what you E60 owners think of driving your car "hard".
By that I mean pushing it......high rpm....aggressive acceleration.....hard braking....fast turns.

Let's leave out of this discussion all things relating to safety for yourself and others, the law and consequences, gas consumption, wear and tear of things like break pads and tires, pushing the car on a cold engine or during the initial break-in period and stay focused on the effect of this type of driving on the lifespan and long term performance of your car. I'm sure we're all mature adults here and understand those aspects..!!

One thing I've heard many times is cars like BMW, Porsche, Mercedes are built for performance driving. If the car is pushed (within reason) on a regular basis, this does not affect the car in a negative way possibly causing mechanical and other problems over time.

What do you guys think?
I must admit I drive my car very hard about 70% of the time! the old girl loves it.

I'd give it a try if I'll go with 167 style wheels but to be honest car's supension is till soft for pushing it too hard especialy on fast long turns thats when you feel it. Going with only summer tires will complicate things switching wheels storing them naaa for now I just ride the car. Even my friends M3 felt soft in turns and needed some suspention mods before I could say yes now it matches the engine performance.
Right now my car feel bone hard but i bealive it's got to do with the crappy rft. But even with the M suspension it still has considerable body roll. For sure the car would ride way better with some mods: stronger and shorter springs (H&R race), M5 sway bars, 19" rims with PS2s...

Thanks ImolaRedM. I'm sure that is true, but what about aggressive MANUAL upshifting and downshifting with Steptronic, somewhat mimicking aggressive manual trans work (except with the delay  ).

I'm assuming SMG is "made" for this, but what about Steptronic?
No problems with this thing i assure you. I think the only thing that can hurt the tranny on the long term putting some wear on it is brake torqueing and burnouts. And that the torque converter not the whole tranny.

I push it pretty hard every time I drive (as long as I am driving alone). I never push it with the wife, my son or friends.

My first BMW and have to say that I have never been so sure about driving a road next to the 100 m ravine. I LOVE this car. But like the wife there can always be more! Or less if we consider weight!

I just drove today from Stockholm to Trondheim and quess what, I chose the smallest roads!
