My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Yesterday I did a text book Launch Assist. I've had problems before because I just smoked the tires. If you follow every instruction in the manual it works great,
The motor rev'd to about 4500 and I released the brake. Two 10' rubber strips were laid down before the tires hooked up. Each subsequent shift was executed at redline.
The thing that I was always leaving out was to put the shift into auto program.

I think we just established in another thread that it works the same way in auto or manual mode.
I think realtyman will be interested in the pair of black stripes though! He'll probably want pics...

When I did it in manual mode the engine rev'd higher and I got a lot more wheel spin. The only thing I changed was to select auto sport mode prior to launch and the result was much better. It could be a coincidence, maybe I had better road surface conditions. Either way, wahooo!

I know it has been posted before but is'nt there a limit on how many times you can launch, if so why is there a limit, can it be reset ?
