My Ride: 2004 530i, Silver Gray, Premium Pkg, Cold Weather package, Black Leather seats with lumbar support, Poplar wood finish. Mods: M6 19" wheels with 245/35/19 Front Tires 275/30/19 Rear Tires, K&N Filter, H&R Sway bars, Magnaflow Muffler, Sprint Booster, Black front grill, M-tech front bumper, Debadged

The black paint or film on the internal dash and other places in my 04'530 has starting 'peeling' (see pics).
It looks cheap and bad. Never had this with my previous bimmers.

Have anyone else had this problem and is there a way to repair/fix this?

thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I am out of warranty
Do you know what they did to fix it? I have the same problem in couple of other places inside.

my driverside window switch is like that, how do you go about getting it replace under warranty? What do you tell them or ask them?

I had numerous pieces like that replaced under warranty. I just called and said that parts of my interior are peeling and then they order the parts and called me to install them when they arrived. I also had the same peeling as your pictures above, but instead of replacing the part they installed the wood trim overlay, which I think looks better even though the pattern doesn't match exactly. Also, sorry to say, but the random parts can add up pretty quickly.

bmw's got terrible soft plastics, then again, bmw isnt immune to the problem. The soft touch plastics peel in a lot of cars, but my two bmw's are the worst. I had all affected pieces replaced under warranty. they blame things like lotions, sunscreen, and sweat so I guess BMW expects you to drive with white gloves.

Tends to happen to the matte-finish interior plastics. It happened to our previous Volvo as well.

Interior Peeling Problems
Thanks for all the inputs..seems like a common problem...one would expect better of BWM!

So I am out of warranty and cant get these replaced at the dealer.

Wondering if there is a paint solution that some one has tried? OR if I should buy the Wood trim and try to replace it myself (and how).
