pretty sure PDC is active immediately, the audio alerts are available even if the visual display is still waking up or the lawyer screen is still displayed. Once active, the graphic PDC display goes away after you get above 20 mph or so, or (it seems) if you drive a certain distance, whichever come first.

as others say the best way is to always lock / unlock the car with the remote = boot up of the system. If the car is opened via the remote all the systems will be perfectly up and running when you get in the car right away

Loving the new ride... one thing that I'm puzzled by is this:
When I start the car, the BMW splash screen shows up. Sometimes it goes away (boots up?) almost immediately and the PDC screen pops up and works as advertised.
Most of the time, however, the BMW splash screen takes up to 30 seconds to go away. By that time, I've already reversed out of my spot and the PDC screen never comes up.
Is there a way to force it to "boots up" fast every time?

Still waiting on my car. Is there really a "lawyer screen" that requires action ("accept") to make the iDrive functional? My current car has an ignition, the seatbelt reminder goes on for one second, then shuts off and you're on your own. No disclaimer screens.
Why does BMW make things so complicated? It's especially funny because their new ads are all about being iconoclastic and anti-beaurocratic. What could be more beaurocratic than a disclaimer screen?

Must reply, even if I don't have PDC.
I'm driving narrow city streets and parking lots all the time.
(Have test drived a few PDC's, though.)
The PDC must work at once, even if any "BG's" has to be awakend -> frescher CIP.
Let's see what the Intel - BMW association will give us, soon I hope.
The old way is to learn the cars borderlines.
I handle all but the rear, when I feel that's it, there's a 20 cm gap.
Better safe than sorry?
PS. Nice lips on your rims Don Juan!
