Loving the new ride... one thing that I'm puzzled by is this:

When I start the car, the BMW splash screen shows up. Sometimes it goes away (boots up?) almost immediately and the PDC screen pops up and works as advertised.

Most of the time, however, the BMW splash screen takes up to 30 seconds to go away. By that time, I've already reversed out of my spot and the PDC screen never comes up.

Is there a way to force it to "boots up" fast every time?

I got so sick of that. I was usually halfway down the road before that BMW screen would go away. I ended up just turning the PDC screen off. I go strictly by the beeps. I like to live on the edge, what can i say!

If you unlock the car from a distance, the moment the doors unlock, the I-Drive starts to boot up. By the time you get in and start it up, the I-Drive will be ready.

That's an interesting bit of info.......I don't have PDC currently, but I will in a few weeks....I'll have to give this a try. I guess that makes sense that you "wake" the car up by unlocking the doors........

Mines always ready pretty much instantly.

ie turn the key - pop into reverse and bleep bleep bleep bleep (etc....)

Is this an american thing to do with your 'lawyer screen'?

Cars with Nav take longer to boot

Mine comes on the second you put the transmission in reverse - beep, beep, beep. As soon as you "accept" the lawyer screen, the graphics come on - there is never any delay. If you "accept" first, then go to reverse, both come on immediately. I don't have nav. and I have a manual, don't know if either effect the timing.

As stated before, non-navigation cars boot up much faster.
