Passenger Restraint Error - Tensioner / Airbag?

I've read around online a bit & it seems there is no sure way of telling where the error is coming from exactly (whether it's the seatbelt receptacle, the airbag, or the small wires on the battery)
Aside from going to the stealership (I've read that they have a hard time figuring this out as well) can someone please provide me some guidance on troubleshooting & pin-pointing the cause of this error?
I have checked the small wires on the positive terminal on the battery & all look to be in good shape.

But want to make sure this is the issue before I purchase the $174 part.

You have right i hade this massage 2 times and the source problem wasn't the same..
I had the same problem after i removed the side covers of the door, and disconnected the airbag. This massage came up and first i thought maybe i sorted the airbag... But after some search i found it's normal if you disconnect the airbag and the battery is connected. In INPA it was 2 min to clear and everything was ok.
The second time was that when my battery was low and i disconnected the IBS(small wires on the battery) to able to start the car, cause when the batt to low than it's blocks and can't start.. After 2 days of driving on the highway the same massage came up.. I checked with inpa and was something connected to battery issue in the airbag module. I tried to clear the code but i wasn't able. (i tried to clear when the IBS was connected too) The battery arrived on the 3rd day, so I changed and programmed (must be, if you changed your batt maybe that's the source). After that i was able to clear the codes.
Sadly i can't tell what is source but i shared my opinion. Maybe IBS , maybe low battery, maybe you changed the battery and you don't reprogrammed.
If you have INPA it's easy to check.
If not than not a big investment to buy a cable for 20-30€ than you can easily check.
But if you want to clear that error than you have to really invest to an OBD cable!

Do you have a link to where can I purchase the "INPA" & OBD Cable?
i am having the same issue i disconected the wires off the battery as my car wouldnt start how do i resolve this problem?first of all resetting the lights on the dash and secondly what should i do regarding the wires to the battery?

You'll need a BMW specific reader that can clear SRS codes (INPA, ISTA, OBD II reader). Then you'll need to figure out what's causing the issue? Fix it and then clear the code. How old is your battery? Did you try cleaning the plug with electrical cleaner? These are simple things you can do? If cleaning doesn't work then you have to see what code is being set and address it. Mine oxidizes so a quick cleanup works for me.

i got mine here, it took ages to arrive and didnt actually think if it would as you get no replies to sending them emails but it did eventually arrive( 3-4weeks) and it comes with the cable and a full suite of software ( inpa Navcoder, DIS SSS etc ) I'm clearing this error every other week as i changed the seats and never unplugged the battery. A lot of people say dont get it here tho, but for £50 I though it was worth the risk
