Hello

Just wondering if your passenger mirror does the auto-down tilt-on-reverse... mine does not! What with anti-dazzle/electric-fold and an SE spec I assumed that it would be there.

It's not.

Have you tried moving the mirror swith to the right? If the switch is to the left the right mirrow will not tilt when reverse is selected

Actually, isn't it the other way around? That if the mirror switch is set to the right mirror, it won't tilt down in reverse?

This is probably one of the most commonly asked questions on E39, too.

the 7series faq at http://members.roadfly.org/e65faq/ is my original source of the info in written form... it says to put the mirror switch to the 'left'... what is unclear is as to whether they are talking right- or left-hand drive

my 320d did not do the tilt-mirror thing... a friend's pre-2004 5series does

as for my e60, neither left nor right position, whilst engaging reverse, causes the mirror to tilt.

so the question again was, to people who have the car and have / can try, as opposed to people guessing... does this work on your e60 or not, please?
cheers

My 330ci used to have the mirror tilt thing - ie leave the switch to the right for the left mirror to tilt when reversing

The same feature seems to be missing on my e60!

The passenger side mirror on my e60 does tilt downward when i am in reverse. I am fairly certain the switch is to the right (passenger side mirror) to make this functional. I believe this is a standard feature on the car (at least US specs for the car). I would guess that the switch for a UK car would need to be to the left since passenger mirror is on the left side. Sounds like you (Skidster) have tried both and it does not work. I'd be giving my dealer a call....

Hi,

Mine does the tild down in reverse. And it does that in the left position of the button. But the steering wheel is on the left too.

fyi, it is the passenger mirror that needs to be selected, as per the manual, which indicates a * to tell us that the tilt-in-reverse passenger side mirror is an optional item (subject to packages or region-specific versions)

same as it says for the rear cigarette-lighter which should be but apparently are not standard with the smoker's package

i both expected and still want both of these options and am talking with the dealer about where was the disconnect regarding their provision
