I got the SRS and seatbelt light a couple days ago along with passenger restraint fault warning on I-drive. Thinking my car ('04 545i sport) qualified for the stealth recall, I took it in this morning only to find out the occupancy sensor mat had already been replaced by PO. I authorized the $132 diagnostic fee to find out what the problem was as the car needed to stay for the battery cable recall. Unfortunately, I have not update INPA with current DATEN files, so I could not interogate the SRS module to determine the fault on my own. If the occupancy sensor mat is faulty again, the service advisor hinted that maybe he could work something out with BMW to authorize another complimentary repair...we shall see....

I just got my passenger mat sensor fixed by BMW, it was covered under a 10 year warranty.

It turned out the fault was due to a faulty control module in the door. I declined the $780 repair qoute and will repair it myself.
