Got in the car today and had a warning message related to pass-restr system (see attached (bad) picture.) Has anyone else seen this issue? Any ideas on what it is?

Thanks

Perhaps we should sell the 04 build car. I'm having problem with my car too, my i-Drive is still acting crazy even after the software upgrade.

Same thing happened twice for me. At first, the dealer updated my software and the warning disappeared. But after a hundred miles, the warning appears again. I shall wait for the new software 17 to come out first before this warning is being solved.

In addition, my friend who has a 05 build car happened on hers too.

Might be the seat occupancy sensor and control unit or one of the satellite sensors probably sbsr/sbsl. The seat occupancy sensor is in the front passenger seat and the satellite sensors that usually go bad are in the b-pillar left or right.

I'm with BMW of North America, LLC. I've passed this message on to a BMW NA Customer Relations Representative who will be in touch with you soon.

Mine was like that when I first picked it the car up. It can be reset by the service people but they replaced the control module on my car to be on the safe side. No more problems since. It seemed to be common a year or more ago but it seems newer cars aren't so much affected.
