My 05 525D has reached 130,000 miles and i am now getting a warning saying increased emmisions, does anyone out there know if this could be caused by particle filter.
I know BMW recommend replacement at 100,000 miles has anyone replaced theirs and how much did it cost.
Hope someone out there can advise me.

I was told by a dealer a year ago that it costs around a grand. the best thing to do, ring few dealers and tell them about increased emission and see what they say if they all say its a particle filter then ask how much and go for the cheapest one.

The Particle Filter has it's own flag on the iDrive Service menu. This is usually a mileage countdown only. If you haven't got anything on the iDrive, you won't have a particle filter. I think they are due around 120000 miles. This would not flag up as Increased Emissions - that's probably something different.

I agree with Mike.
Please check all air hoses and connections in the engine room. If there's a leak, you would probably see oily spots under the hood. It could be a faulty MAF sensor.

On another forum someone else was complaining about the same thing, they took their car to a specialist who simply took the car out for a long high rev run. Apparently this cleared the problem, I guess the dpf was choked up and needed to regenerate.
Do this at your own risk? If it was my car i would probably go for a 30 mile motorway run and deliberately keep it in a lower gear.
Good luck.
PS. If the DPF needs changed it will tell you and it is around a grand to replace, i asked about it today.

I'm now gonna use this as an excuse as to why I need to pop it up to 155mph on the autobahn every now and then

it could also be a dirty EGR valve....
Thanks everyone for their help, I tried Redex injector cleaner in tank and so far so good, the increased emissions warning disappeared and hasnt been seen since.
