I hit a curb - The PDC lied to me .

Still very much heartbroken over the betrayal...

It was around 12 inches wide, and about 8-9 inches high. Just low enough to go under my bumper without a noticeable impact/sound, and just high enough to hook it as I reversed, splitting the thing in two. I have to say, the sound was gut wrenching.

I have pdc without navi, you still get the pic of the car on idrive with the green, yellow, red indicators as well as audible beeps. I love mine parking is so mindless now (hope it doesn't breakdown one day cuz I'll probably hit something)
+1 or is it +4

The PDC system is very cool and good but also a bit too loose.

In the city one needs inch accuracy, not one feet.

Actually pays for itself, a small bumper repair is $1000 each time. My 545 didn't have it and it cost me $2000.
2,000 for your bummper`s. .. some body got raped by the body shop

Thanks for using "standard" units instead of metric. But thanks for pointing that out. I'm a city dweller, so leaving a foot between cars is asking for nice long key mark.

I've seen PDC sensors, embedded in the rear bumper, that are flush with the bumper and those where they are recessed and angled. Does anyone know why?

This is exactly why I wish there was at least one sensor directed at an angle to help me from getting too close to a concrete parking lot "bumper" --- don't know what to call them ... Those things that stick up just high enough to drive over and then scrape as you pull out. Thank G I have never scraped my E60 but I stress about it every time!

Your post makes me think there is a reason why my sensors are somewhat recessed into the bumper and at an angle- to sense/pick up lower obtacles?

Friend of mine has PDC in his 745. While backing into a parking stall, PDC showed yellow but he ended up scraping the crap out of his rear bumper due to the cement stop/block, both of us shook our heads at the iDrive screen...

745 is not lowered but does have sport package...
