Does the PDC option for $700 include labor? Or will I also have to pay for the labor fees?
that's an option you have to get before you order your car. just like other options, they won't charge any labor. they'll charge labors on accessories. but now is too late for you to do it unless you want the rear sensors only. i think they'll be able to do both front and rear if you insist to but will be expensive

Park Distance Control is a great feature or option especially with the Sport Package. Two to three times I got my front end hung up on precast concrete car stops with my e39 with sport. I think that now PDC picks them up until I get close then it looks over the top. Anyway PDC is a great feature or option depending on your model in the US.
You are so right, Paul. I hung the E39 Sport on curbs more times than I want to remember. Also replaced the outside temp sensor more than once. The early models had it located low on the front bumper. That was the main reason I wanted PDC.

Hey guys, brand new to the discussion group. Have read many posts on many subjects and have found the info provided very helpful.
Park Distance Control was one option that was not installed on my Beemer and I've been interested in adding it. I had PDC on my 03 M3 (std with SMG) and miss it every time I back up. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and since the dealer installed version doesn't interface with Idrive, could I install it myself? When I talked to my local dealer (Bill Jacobs BMW - Naperville) they didn't know what the install cost would be, but indicated they thought that it would take approximately 4 to 5 hours, so I should plan on $700 to $800 including parts. Anyway it might help if I could get a pdf of the installation proceedure. Any ideas where I could get this?
Another idea, is that I could buy two ($225 each) and install one on the front as well. I like the idea of protecting my front spoiler from curb damage, especially since that is where I have my remote Radar/Laser detector sensor mounted. I realize that this woundn't give me the visuals in idrive, but the beeper works pretty well.

I just received my 2005 545I and it now comes from factory with parking control included, no need to order it.
