Same here.?

Plus, at certain angles, the metalic specs seem to have different shades...so it looks like clouds (bcoz of the ligther shades)? This is more noticeable on the hood.? The only other part is the vertical surfaces of the trunk lid.

I've clayed, used different paint cleaners, polishes and waxes and it still looks the same.? So I believe this is? a below the paint surface problem.

I'm only going to keep the car for another year or so.? I'd probably just leave it ...saves me the hassle of taking it in....

I've also noticed this on the hood. Especially at low angles and under powerful halogen lighting.

On other spots I can also see that the paint has been running, either that, or the clear coat.

Most every car has some degree of orange peel--every Porsche I've owned also had it. The only way to totally avoid it is to color sand and buff after painting, but that's very expensive and not done in mass production.

BMW has much better overall paint quality than many other manufacturers. The level of orange peel is much lower than any other car I've owned, from GMs to Nissans, etc. Yes, there's orange peel, but short of hand-sanding and finishing every car, you must expect some of this. I'm very happy with my E60's finish.

The only cars I used to see that had very little to no orange peel were the mid to late 90's models Acuras and Toyota Camry's. A black camry was like looking into a mirror.
