Hello everyone! I have my 2007 530xi, and for the past month and a half, I’ve been driving around with a Check engine on. The first day it came on, I hooked up a scanner and pulled a P0440. I’ve started to notice the gas cap didn’t feel as tight as it was. To mention, during this time, during fill ups, my car wouldn’t start immediately, rather crank a couple times, and on the second time, it’ll start, stall to 200-400 rpm, and I would have to tap the accelerator to have it running at its usual 650-700 rpm. I replaced the gas cap with an o.e cap and cleared the light. I’ve drove it about two days and the light came on, this time the P0442. On top of that, I would smell gas vapors here and there. On the bright side, my car no longer has the starting issue during fill ups. I’ve been wanting to see the best course of action to tackle the issue. I’m not gonna want to throw parts at it just to solve the issue. I’d figure a smoke test would be a good start. Any advice on where to start. Has anyone else have this issue on their e60/61? Thank you!
