I have my e60 for a year and half and I am very pleased with my car.

I have 30 k miles on meter which another 20k miles left on warrenty.

I begin to thouhgt if I should continue keep this car or not, because maintance on bmw's are somewhat expensive. Also I had al lot a trouble with falut error on the car. When after warrenty is over, I actually need to pay for all those things.

SO, what are you guys opinion on this?

Get extended warranty. Bumps it to 6 years 100K miles which might be worth it for you if you drive a lot of miles...

I have not shopped around but one dealer quoted me $3600 for 2 years and 50K miles making the total warranty up to 6 years and 100K miles. I will not reach the milage only the years so I'm still thinking about it. I'll decide when it gets close to 4 years. You need to purchase it before your original Warranty is over.

Let me know if you find a cheaper place.

This $3600 one is a BMW one exact same warranty as what comes with the car and can be taken to any dealer. I picked up the booklet from the dealership.

That sounds high: My dealer quoted me $2x00 (maybe 2400 or 2600). And recently when I confirmed with him that I could still buy it at that price, later, he confirmed that the price remained the same. (I expected it to rise with labor costs over the years)... He said not, but that BMW may require an inspection before agreeing to the extension.

To answer the initial question, I am concerned about this car's electronics. My E 39 cost me some seroius money, but that was the result of specific design issues (cat converters plugged routinely on early models: $1600 a pop). Absent that, I probabaly only got near the $2x00 mark until I traded it at 100K. It's a crap shoot that I ususally don't buy into, but I am thinking seriously about it (only 4K miles so far).

Stay tuned,
Ray Hull

There are actually two thing to consider: An extention on the maintenance and/or and extension on the warrenty.

I got both on mine (I expect to keep my car for a while). The extended maintance was about ~$1700 to bump it to 6 years 100K. The extended warrenty was about ~3.5K to bump mine to 7 years. I bought both at my dealer McKenna in Los Angeles. I hope this helps.

36 hundred is quite a lot!

I would say that there will not be problems worth a grand before 100K miles.

If thats true I'll get it for $2400. $3600 is a lot for just 2 years... If anyone in So Cal knows of a dealer that will sell me the BMW Warranty for $2400 that can let me service my car at any dealer let me know!

Question for those that got the extended warranty, I assume this is not from BMWNA since I hear they don't offer them.
Do the US dealers carry warranties from multiple companies or from just one? Will the repairs be accepted at all dealers without hassel or will the dealer that sold you the warranty be more receptive for all repairs?
On the extended maintenance, I assume this is from BMWNA so no issues at all.

Maybe you should question whether the $2000 to ?4000 additional warranty cost is justifyable against the increased depreciation of changing to a newer (warranted) e60 ??? maybe better to just trade it in for a new car?
