I got the 172m wheels with Continental Compacsport 2 tires today equipped on 2008 550i(slightly used set).

Can anyone confirm whether the tires are run flat or not run flat. How about the TMP sensors? Are the TPM sensors factory equipped with the 172s wheels? How can I tell whether the wheels had TMP sensors or not?

Thank you.

They are non-run-flat and do come equipped with TPM sensors from the factory. Look for the metal valve stems, that's the TPM sensor. Rubber valve stems = no TPM...

The tires are the antithesis of runflats , you'll love them on the twisties !! My 07 did NOT have TPM's so as mentioned check to see if they look like little metal mushrooms , if they are, you've got them.... and if you don't .... well no big deal ! enjoy the wheels and tires....... they're great!!

I checked and the wheels should comes with TPM sensors. But since my car is 2005 model, I believe the sensors does not make any difference.

But when I first put the 172s on Thursday May 1st, the idrive did show "flat tire" warning message after I initial road test the wheels/tires. I checked the tire pressures(34 psi front and 39 psi rear).

I drove the car for 120 miles yesterday, May 2nd and about 50 miles today, May 3rd. The "flat tire" warning message showed again. I checked, all tires have air and proper pressures(36 psi front and 41 psi rear) which the tire pressures shows more after 50 miles drive compares when I checked them while they are cold.

My question is why the "flat tire" warning message showed up again after 2 days while the tire pressures are all fine? Wondering will I get the message again on Monday or sometime next week? Anyone have this issue?

Thank you.
