I just got the black dakota with light poplar wood and IMHO its stunning. I had the grey with anthracite wood before which looked a little clinical and the grey got really dirty. My current interior looks very expensive and lavish

I have an orient blue/black interior on order. i love that combo.
to me it was more the sportiness of the black versus the other choices. and the black does have a "smokiness" to it - not pure black. i love it, obviously

My Ride: 2005 Orient Blue/Beige interior 545i: Cold weather pkg, Nav system, Premium sound, Sport Pkg, satellite prep, 30% smoke tinted windows all around, waiting for my euro red reflectors and umbrella!
I think the black is best. Since it's not a dark black and more smoke, it looks good.

Before you buy that color, make sure you see it in real life to see if you really like it. Because to me, it looked really good in the brochure, but in real life, it's too dark. Almost black. So might as well go black. But if thats really your taste then go for it. But dont think it looks like the brochure. If you really want blue, get the Mystic blue. The blue on that is more noticable yet not too bright of a blue. Again, just my opinion. And yeah black interior is sweet.

I am first on the list at a dealer for the 550.? Also my first BMW
Thinking of European delivery (depending on how my trading account does, I may opt to get it quicker in the states even though it cost more, but you get it quicker)
I like the orient blue metallic and know the beige is classic with it but from what I read here, the beige just gets too dirty.? Auburn looks like a baseball glove, I don't care for it.
that leaves gray and black interiors.? Wife says black inside with blue outside aint too great.? It doesnt bother me.?
So the question is gray vs. black.? Anybody care to chime in?
Thanks
Steve

Is it harder to keep clean than black? Yes.
Good luck.

I would go with grey. You can see pictures on my site with Orient Blue and Grey interior. I also have the TitanII trim. IMO I do not like the poplar wood, too fake for me but just my opinion.
Grey interior is not that hard to keep clean compared to Beige. I used to be a grease monkey until I recently moved up in the world. I used to clean the seats every week. Now I clean them every 3 to 4 weeks. I did not like black becuase it shows dirt a lot quicker and the car itself appears to dark. Grey keeps it just right. However, if you are in to bright colors you may want the Beige.
Here are some pics:
Don't ask about the trim. Dealer screwed up. It is an old pic:

Great exterior color but hell to take care of. My vette is almost the same, it shows every little swirl mark, IMO worse than black. With that said, if you go with the blue the grey interior will look awesome (same in my vette).

2006 E5004matic- I must have been on drugs when I got this car
2004 545i Black Sapphire/Truffle Brown interior
My vote is for grey interior, my neighbour has beige interior and after one year it looks very worn.
