Hey, the same colour combo as I have! Nice.

Amazing how low the lease fees are in the States - I pay almost the same for my 530i...
Who cares about what cars cost?? Look at your women

Congratulations! Let the waiting begin!!
Was it a difficult decision to order the automatic rather than the manual transmission?

Okay I finally did it. Bit the bullet and ordered my '08 550i this morning:
Platinum Gray Metallic (yeah, I know, another gray BMW)
Natural Brown Dakota Leather
Bamboo trim
Anthracite headliner
Cold Weather
Sport Package
Sport Automatic (first non manual in 10 years)
Sunshades
Logic 7
Satellite Radio
Ipod
Heads Up
Navigation
Fold down rear seats

With $7700 down as MSD (refundable at lease end) plus first month, fees and nothing down I came in at $1033.69/month for 2 years, 15K/yr.

Upon returning home I then ordered my painted ACS rear trunk spoiler and dustless brake pads from Zeckhausen Racing. Have to be prepared If I can figure out how to track it, that would be nice too. Can anyone help me out?? How long after the car is ordered can I check status??

Thanks,
Jeff

Congrats!!! Sounds very nice. (Makes me happy that I went with the 535 though)

Good question. My last 3 BMWs were all manual and I just wanted a change. The paddle shifters make it a really different experience. Remember, I own a 2006 550i now so unless I changed some things it would be a virtually identical car at least in the way that it feels. Anyway, if I hate it all I need to do is wait 24 months and order another stick. I am actually trying to time things so that my next one will be the new body style.

Sounds great...but why add an aftermarket spoiler? It will just look 80's tacky......the car is already very fast and very stable.

Enjoy it all the same!

Congratulations! I see you did a 15K/yr lease. Did you calculate what the difference would be if you did 10K/yr and bought the extra miles 4 months before lease end? I just ordered a 550i and after taxes I still came out around $556 ahead by doing a 10k/yr lease and buying the extra 10k 4 months before lease end. The extra 3% residual is quite a bit of money on a $73,000 car. Might be something worth looking into...

Here I thought your current car is a Gremlin Great choice of colors and options. You won't be having to think "I should have gotten X".

I have always liked manual tranny's but I wanted to try the sport auto. It still behaves like a normal automatic when you want it to which is great for less effort driving around town. But it can be quite sporty with a touch of a button, or full manual if you want. The manual mode is worlds better than previous steptronics. Its very responsive and involving with the paddles. Just today I drove most of the morning and evening commutes in manual mode. My only grip in manual mode is when slowing down for a turn, etc it may downshift just when you think you want to, resulting in a lower gear than expected. Also, when taking off from a stop, especially if needing to steer the car, treat it like a manual and tap the shifter for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. By then the wheel is straight and you can use the paddles.

A coworker wanted a look at my 550i today. I explained the luxury PLUS performance makes it worth the money to me. He then wanted a ride and I gave him his money's worth. Unfortunately the cold weather didn't allow for great traction but DSC finally allowed the car to take off and I scared the guy. We then u-turned around a circle and I got DSC to kick in again exiting the circle. Definately a capable sports sedan. But you already know that with the '06.

Doesn't look "80s tacky" to me--not exactly some giant tuner wing. I'm adding the small M5 spoiler myself soon. I guess everything is up to individual taste, but I think your ACS spoiler suits the car's wide rear stance nicely.
