orange lights including text near speedo fade in and out

My Ride: 2005 BMW 525D M-SPORT // Grey // SB attached
So i noticed that the orange text like the time and mpg etc in the middle of the speeds keeps fading in and out. This cant be normal. Does anyone know whats up ? Its not under warranty any more !

Could be the battery ... as I know batteries last abotu 4-5 years.

It is indeed the display reacting to ambient lighting conditions, totally normal and a good trick.

I might try and locate the sensor and give it a clean in case light isnt geting through properly.
