I can trade my 04 545 and 32grand for an 06 M5. My car has 36k on it, the M has 7k and all options. What do you think? All opinios helpful. Ignore gas milage as an issue to make it simple.

Are you from US, aren't you ?
Why don't supercharge it ?
Is it legal there...

Less weight than the M5, more torque, more acceleration, more performance!
And less expensive!

Just an option...

Ditto. If the history on the M5 checks out ... go get it!

I agree but make sure you do your homework on the car.

before you trade in your 545, take the Rad 10s off and slap 'em on your M5!

It depends on why you want an M5. If you just like the look of an M5, it seems to me you can create the "look" with a body kit, mirrors and wheels for a small fraction of the 32k you'll be spending. IMO, financially and practically speaking, the M doesn't make sense. A 545 or 550 has all the power and acceleration you'll ever need for normal driving.

If on the other hand you're a collector or a purist who really wants to "own a M", then go for it.

 on just trading 545 and 32K for an M. Why? financially it doesn't make sense. M5 is everyone's dream car, but if you were able to afford it, why not buy it first time around? If you ask for opinion on getting the M, all you will get is "GO FOR IT", "IT'S A DREAM CAR", "YOU THE MAN". But no one really knows why you should get it. They are just stating their opinions on how GREAT the M is which you already know. I wouldn't do it. Man, keep your 545 and spend about 5K to do the M look, thats it. You can give the 27K left to me, or spend on a beautiful vacation around the world, or just buy a toyota pickup truck or something. But if you have money laying around the house and dont know where to spend it, why not an M6? pure sport (no sedan please). Its your choice and your money but  for the idea.
