Default Opinions on code readers

I am requesting recommendations on code readers. I know there are some units costing many hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I am trying to find something that can give good detailed readings without costing an arm and a leg.

Any suggestions is appreciated.

If you have a laptop, get OBD-to-USB cable and use INPA software. You will be able to do lot more than what generic OBD-II code readers can do.
