I am ordering a 2008 550i and can not decide what color combination to go with. I really like the tan interior , but am worried about how it will start looking dirty after a while even if I take the utmost care of it. I like black, but black looks somewhat dull to me. I'm not sure what the natural brown looks like so I cannot comment. As far as exterior, I like the carbon black, but after seeing it at the NYAS, I am not too happy about the fact that it is more blue than black. I love alpine white, but living in North Jersey, I see far too many alpine white BMW's and it's really a turn off. I also like Jet black or Sapphire, but not as much as white.
Possible combinations are: Carbon black w/ tan or black interior Jet black w/ tan or black interior Sapphire black w/ tan or black interior Alpine white w/ tan or black interior Ideally I would have gotten Alpine white w/ tan interior if I didn't have to worry about seeing so many other Alpine Whites and if I didn't have to worry too much about the tan interior looking dirty even if I cleaned if often. I would have loved it if Carbon black was a much deeper black w/ slight blue undertones and not a deeper blue. |

From the photos I've seen, I thought the 550 that was at the NYAS was Monaco Blue not Carbon Black. Did it look the same as the 535 that was there (that I'm pretty sure was Monaco) or different?
no they were clearly different and I asked the rep, but that goes to show you that carbon is really more of a blue. But it will certainly look different in darker lightning. |
I went with the Alpine white & tan interior - a classic look. Its really not that hard to keep looking sharp, with the exception of the floor mats. The OEM all weather mats were a must through the winter. Otherwise, its a great looking combination...

It's creme interior now, not beige. I'm personally a fan or Carbon Black with Black or White with Gray. If you do decided to get Black, make sure that you get the Anthracite Headliner so the entire interior matches. I believe its $500.00

Carbon black rocks.

Best E60 color = Ti Gray
Bow to the awesomeness. http://forums.e60.net/uploads/116395...029_965911.jpg http://forums.e60.net/uploads/116395...029_374021.jpg Black interior is a must. Mine is 2.5 years old, yet still looks as clean as the day I bought it. http://forums.e60.net/uploads/116395...029_753686.jpg http://forums.e60.net/uploads/116395...029_463384.jpg |

Possible combinations are:
Carbon black w/ tan or black interior Jet black w/ tan or black interior Sapphire black w/ tan or black interior Alpine white w/ tan or black interior Otherwise, I would only go for black interior if the paint is light, ie Alpine white in this case. |
