Unhappy

Yesterday as soon as I started the car the following message came on: Power Window - Anti-trap function deactivated. The front passenger window would not auto close I have to keep my finger on the button. I shut the car off and restart it hoping for the message to go away but it wouldn't. As I'm driving I dropped the window all the way down couple of times and close it up and all a sudden the message disappeared and my window went back to normal. This morning as I'm leaving to work the following message comes up: Electrical system failure must visit your nearst BMW dealer immediately then two seconds later the message disappeared and all functions were normal again in the iDrive.

Any ideas what might be triggering these issues? When I was having the problem with the crash sensors couple of weeks ago my SA said that the battery might be weak which could trigger these faulty messages.

If I want to replace the battery, what do you guys recommend for a replacement? I don't want the dealer to charge me $400 for a battery!

If it is your battery, I hear you can get a good battery at a cheaper pirce at Batteries Plus!

What should I look for when buying a battery for the E60? Also does anyone know if there is a local supplier in the Toronto region? Thanks

I think I found the battery to replace the original one, member Marc (RatherBeInCabo) gave details on the type of battery and how to replace it, thanks. I will go with Wreker 95R since that is the equivalent of the original.

Thanks for everyone's help and feedback.

Okay, I've been searching for most of the afternoon to find a Werker dealer in the Toronto area with no luck and Batteries Plus will not ship to Toronto as it will cost an arm and a leg for shipping. Any suggestion on where I could buy the Werker or any other battery that will work on our E60's in the Toronto area? Thanks

Would it be cheaper to drive to buffalo to change your battery? probably you can find a shop over there to get your car battery changed. Isn't it like a 2-3hrs drive?

Also, before you change the battery get it tested at your local garage, the can put a load on the battery and tell if its worn, for all you know it just needs a bloody good charge!!
