I was looking at the car's engine today and accidentally found this. To me it looks like a leaking oil, but I'm not an expert. is this a sign of a serious problem? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

The car is 04 M54B30 96k miles

P.S. - If you're out of warranty look for a good indy shop.

wow... $900 dollar job? I have a third party warranty.. I'm not sure how's thing gonna work now. Hopefully the claim process is simple. how long do you think the repair will take? I'm a student and I have class almost every day.. probably I just skip classes until the car is finished.

Its best to get it done now, but sometimes that is not feasable. Check your oil and coolant levels daily and be on the look out for system malfunctions. If you start to notice a significant drop in fluid level or a related system problem, get your car to a shop ASAP!
