All,
I sent a sample of my oil to the folks at Blackstone Labs. Attached are the findings.
The interesting points are that they do a analysis on how much life is left in the oil. They stated there was plenty of life left. Enough I would assume to go the entire 15K. They also found higher than normal amounts of aluminum. They attributed this to further 'break in' of the engine and expect it to go down over the next oil change.
Enjoy!
Cheers,
Nick

Thanks for the update.
Maybe it's just me but I'd be a little concerned about the higher than average ppm of molybdenum...

Good stuff Nick.
I personally went the entire 16K on my N52... 2 actual years. The car never required any additional oil during that timeperiod. It seems that in regular conditions, the factory (and car sensor) recommendations are just fine.

This report would support your argument. Their test on the active life of the oil says it can go quite a while longer!

I did have to change the fetzer valve and repack the ball bearings. That may be the culprit.

Did you know you can get a free oil change after 1 year regardless of mileage?

Yes I knew that. Considering my car has come back in somewhat worse shape from the dealer than when I handed it off, my decision to keep it out of their clutches in hindsight seems to have been a good one. As a general rule I like to keep my cars out of the garage if at all possible. Didn't need to take it in for anything for the entire first two years.
When I did take it in - only minor stuff was required:
-replace RFTs under TSB (noise)
-replace brakes and rotors under TSB (noise)
-replace wood dash trim (crack, defective)
-replace key (diode failure, defective)
-fix passenger front window trap failure
-scheduled oil change
-scheduled brake fluid change
-code update to correct false "high battery drain" indication
At the 1 year mark, I only had 8K miles, which is borderline for full break-in and seating of the engine components. I didn't quite want to rush it, and at some point after passing up the one year mark I just decided to go by the car's sensors.
