i got a message through idrive telling me that my oil pressure was low and that i may have engine damage. i went home and parked the car and checked my dipstick. i have oil and my next oil change isn't for another 7000 miles according to idrive. i just woke up this morning and turned on the car, but i didn't get the message. decided to drive around the block and nothing came up. should i still have the dealership look at it or could the sensor just been failing?
edit: i have a 2004 545i with about 56k miles. i'm under CPO warranty still.

Definitely have it looked at by the dealer. The oil pump could be faulty resulting in low oil pressure. There are several other things that can lead to bad oil pressure like a clogged port or a faulty sensor. It is not worth taking a chance. Take it to the dealer.
