oil low warning after stop leak additive
Hello,
I recently used (perhaps stupidly) the ATP AT-205 Re-Seal stop leak in my 2006 E60 (140,000 mi). I just used 4 oz (half the bottle). I drove the car several hours that day and have been driving it consistently. I didn't let it "sit" in the engine.
Afterwards, I have been getting the yellow "Engine oil below minimum...refill with 1 quart" message almost exclusively, even though I know it is not down a full quart. There is no error fault for a faulty engine oil level sensor and I have tried several things to try to reset it.
The only time a change occurs is when, after driving, I remove the oil cap and let the vapors/moisture escape for a couple hours. Then the next day when driving I see the green oil level indicator accurately say I'm down only half a quart or whatever. But inevitably it goes back to the yellow warning until I let the moisture escape again.
Did I dilute the oil by using the stop leak?
Comments appreciated. Thank you.

Stop leak plugs leaks but it also plugs up sensors, oil cavities and areas that need flow. It may say it works but almost always they do more harm than good. Id try to flush it all out and pray that you get all of it.

Drain the oil and it shouldn't be too difficult to pull out the sensors (3 screws I believe) and clean it with some solvent and try again. I don't know if you can get to it on the E60 with the aluminum support pan or not, it was a breeze to get to for replacement on my E46 with an M54.

I have used ATP once or twice on my E60 to see what it would do. Luckily it worked for me until I had time to fix my leak issues. You could be looking at a clogged pump. Unfortunately you're not going to be able to get it fixed without a flush and fresh oil. Liqui Moly 2037 Pro-Line Engine Flush is what I use and it works great. To condition your seals use Liqui Moly 2020 Motor Oil Saver.

Thank God I didn't use the whole bottle. That stuff is insidious.
