My Oil Service warning came on today on my 545i with only 200 miles. I checked the oil level and it looked low to me. I added about 1/2 quart. I find that red end on the dip stick tough to read for some reason. I just learned that Oil Service is not the same as a Low Oil Level warning.

My question is, If I read the dip stick wrong and it didnt need oil, did I do something bad by adding a 1/2 quart or will this be ok till I go to the dealer on Tuesday???

 

Yup too much oil can be a problem. I always check that stick several times to make sure I am seeing it right.
