Oil Level Sensor

I searched and searched for a DIY or other informative article about replacing an oil level sensor, but I am coming up empty. I have to diagnose an oil leak and I am hoping it's something simple like the sensor or the sensor gasket. Where exactly is it located? I assume all the oil must be drained to change it?
Thanks Guys.

oil level sensor is attached on the bottom of the lower oil pan. If the oil is relatively new, you can catch the oil in to a clean pan and our it back in to the engine after the sensor is replaced. Depending on hat engine your car has, the sensor may be easily accessible from under the car once you remove the plastic cover under the engine.
