Recently bought CPO car (06 530xiT) in November, so i assumed new oil and chance...

Did some rather spirited driving and had then had the "low oil level" icon flash at me...

Got back home and let the car sit for a while ( level surface...) and then checked oil level... IDrive showed OK..

Next morning, got the low oil level notice again...

I do not want to overfill oil in engine, but also do not want to ignore...Engine has no oil leaks, etc...

Is ther "any" way to check the oil level manually or should i just add 1/2 quart to engine? Do you think it bears a trip to the dealer?

No don't assume you got new oil. The dealer will not change the oil unless it was actually due for a change. It sounds like your oil level is right at the threshold so it sometimes is below and sometimes just above. I forget what the amount is between min and max maybe 1 or 1.5 quarts. So adding 0.5 to 0.75 quarts should be fine.

+1, 1/2 a quart should do it, but I would get an oil change just to start fresh.

Oil sensors are sometimes problematic; How many miles since the last oil service? If less than 4-5K it may not be low oil level but a sensor problem

I bought my wife an 07 CPO X3 - since the vehicle was not due for an oil change - guess what?
BWM set tolerances for brake, tire wear, etc and the dealer is will take every opportunity to avoid doing the unncessary.
Good luck with your new purchase.

Why don't you just do an oil change and be sure about this. It costs roughly $100, and you will have a peice of mind that your oil is new and working fine. Better yet, do it at the dealer, so when the light flashes again, you can complain to them and maybe have something replaced under warranty
