Oil Level

My Ride: 07 550i auto sport, cold weather, nav, shades
Hey guys I have a 07 550i that is a great car for the most part. The other day I got a low oil warning. I pulled over went and got some oil and slowly poured in half a quart. I let it settle, drove it in the parking lot for a few minutes and then shut the car off and and let it settle again for 5 minutes. I started it up and still low oil level. I proceeded to repeat the process again until I had 1.5 quarts in. Still no luck so I took the car to BMW where they hade it for 2 days fixing the I drive and sensors and stuff. How the hell do you have a clue about this car if you can't even tell how much oil is in it? The I 
drive is another fiasco when entering an address.
Well just venting guys. Love the car but the technology may have been taken to far.

My '06 550i has a real oil dipstick tucked way back on the driver's side of the engine manifold, almost under the firewall cowl. Does yours have this? I like sensors and all, but my eyeball is the best sensor in the car.
