Oil leak that caused Starter Motor to fail
My lovely E60 530D which i have never had a problem with decided to not start last Friday
Went to a garage they replaced the starter motor and all was well.
They just called me to tell me that the start motor that they took off went to someone to be reconditioned and he said there was oil in it.
Apparently enough to pour the oil out.
I have never had any issues with oil, no warning lights etc.
No pools of oil under the car or anywhere noticeable in the engine.
Anyone have any ideas?
I am in the middle of moving house and could do without the added expense.
Please Help

Had the same problem. There may be an oil leak from the intake manifold or from swirl flaps housing if they are not removed. It can be easily checked when you look at the right side of your engine under the manifold. Usually this side is wet with oil. And the oil gets to the starter motor and it dies or starts losing its power.
