Clean all of the oil up and verify the oil leak is from the gasket you replaced, Could be the gasket where it attaches to the engine if you didn't do both gaskets.

There is only one oil filter housing gasket on the M54 which is on the oil filter housing, on the engine side it is a flat metal surface.

Any other suggestions guys???
