oil consumption
#1
have bad experience with the Castrol Syn 0W-40 oil which local distributor (Performance Motors) fills into the engine.
Engine oil needs topping up of 1ltr every 6000kms!!!!
Castrol lubricants is the approved lubricant worldwide for BMW.
BMW engineers quoted that "it is normal" for oil consumption but unable to say where the oil dissappeared to!!!
Unable to rationalise why a new vehicle will consume oil.
changed to another brand of synthetic oil, so far no more top ups needed.
Anyone experiencing this problem
i am driving an E60 and car has done 15000Kms

With the 0W-40 or some other number, it also depends on your country's climate too right? I heard that from somewhere. Some place are too hot to use those kind of oil, meaning your engine will run real hot and your climate is hot too, so there might be something related to that, I really can't say for sure, but I've heard that or read that from somewhere.

Only had to refill oil due to consumption once, during the running in period, since then it has consumed no oil.
Though 5 days after last oil change I found it to be at the bottom mark on the dipstick and added a litre.
(cheaper than driving back to the stealers, I will check before I leave them next time!)
Are you sure it is oil used or are they short changing you on the refill?
