I’m wondering what normal oil consumption is for my 530i n53 2008. I changed oil and filter 2400 miles ago(4000km) and the oil level has dropped from 5 bars to 3 in the Idrive. Is this normal consumption? How much is one bar in like l or ml?

I don't know about the bars unit of measurement, but I wouldn't worry about it if you're not throwing notifications. My oil leaks too, but takes almost 9 months to throw a low oil notification, and then I just top it off.

​​​​​​Keep in mind the electronic oil level sensor is notoriously inaccurate. I can check my oil level 5 times on the same drive and get 5 different (although usually fairly similar) readings.
As long as it's in the green and I don't get a low oil warning, it's all good.

What oil are you using? I used to burn oil using Mobil 1 5-W30. Switched to Castrol 0W-40, haven't had a problem since.
