Classic quoted me $180 for the oil change, Kwik Kar said $140, flat rate. It took 7 quarts for the 525 (more oil in this 2.5L I6, than I had to put in my 5.4L V8), and more oil than I ever saw go into a car of any size. They used the Mobil 1 Synthetic $8.00/quart, which was $56.00 just for the oil- I doubt the filter was more than maybe $10.00- so $66.00 for oil filter and the seal, the rest was labor. I always watch my car get the oil changed. I got screwed at Wal-Mart (Killeen, TX) years ago (said they changed my oil, and they hadn't)- every since then (1996), I never let my car out of my site when it's time for an oil change.
I used to change the oil on my vehicles in the Army (I had to), but I've never changed my own oil in my privately owned vehicles. But, with an $80 hand out for something I can do myself, maybe I should get some dry sweep, and rags, and do it myself.
The local BMW dealership charges $130/hour for labor. Most of the Indy shops in this area charge $75 - $100/hour.

yeah, castrol syntec can go a long time between changes. if i'm not mistaken, i think the 15k on the idrive isn't actually 15k miles, it's whatever is equivalent to 15k miles. so if you live in the city it would probably be more like 9k-10k miles.

??? The iDrive tells you how many actual miles you have left before your next oil change is due and it continuously monitors it.
